Description
- We seek applicants for instructors to teach within the College's Adult Education program in our Normal, Illinois, location. This position is essential to the College's vision of leading our community to lifelong learning and success. Adult Education instructors support our diverse population of learners, including adult learners, traditionally underserved learners, and those seeking to advance their educational achievements.
Morning classes and some evening classes are anticipated to be available during the spring semester, with a current need for instructors to teach in Normal, IL.
Adult Basic Education/High School Equivalency (ABE/HSE) Preparation Instructors will plan and deliver instruction to students as they prepare to pass the HSE exam. Content areas include math, language arts, social studies, science, and U.S. and Illinois Constitution, as well as career planning and development.
Functional English as a Second Language (FESL) & Academic English Language Program (AELP) Instructors will plan and deliver instruction to students in reading, writing, speaking, listening, and U.S. culture, as well as career planning and development.
Requirements

- Bachelor's degree
- Ability to successfully engage multiple student learning levels and styles within the classroom and foster a sense of student belonging
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently, problem-solve, and function professionally under pressure
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and web-based tools
- Availability to be present on campus as needed
Desired Qualifications

- Teaching certification and/or master's degree in adult education or related field
- Experience working inclusively with groups of individuals from multicultural backgrounds
- Successful teaching or tutoring experience, especially with adult populations
THIS POSITION IS BASED IN NORMAL, IL, AND THE ABILITY TO BE PRESENT ON-CAMPUS/IN-PERSON IS REQUIRED.
