Description

We seek applicants for a full-time position on the Marketing team to implement various print and digital promotional strategies to tell the story of the College. Specific responsibilities include copyediting, proofreading, developing graphic emails and newsletters, social media content, and updating website content.

General responsibilities include but are not limited to

  • Serve as a lead copywriter for Marketing, ensuring best editorial practices. Write, edit, and proof content for a variety of communication mediums, including print and digital pieces.

  • Collaborate with Marketing staff to assist with promotional needs, with specific emphasis on Enrollment Services, Academic Affairs, Continuing Education, and Foundation.

  • Identify opportunities for stories that contribute to public website content, social media, and newsletters. Draft questions and conduct interviews with individuals to produce content that helps tell the story of Heartland and highlights the diversity of our campus through creative writing.

  • Support Marketing colleagues with proofreading, coordination, and completion of routine and special projects, including district mailings, Continuing Education booklets, and alumni news.

  • As guided by the Associate Director, assist in creation and scheduling of content for various social media platforms and in the monitoring of social channels.

  • Assist with coordination of the Hawk Squad student outreach team and their weekly activities to obtain and produce content for use on social media.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Experience coordinating marketing, communication, or related projects.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and attend to details while managing multiple projects.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational, planning, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and social media platforms.

Desired Qualifications

  • Familiarity with community college and higher education priorities and initiatives.
  • Familiarity and ability to comply with AP Stylebook guidelines.
  • Superior writing, editing, and proofreading skills; experience with copywriting.
  • Experience with event or program promotion.
  • Familiarity with filming/editing short form videos for use on social media.

EMPLOYEE LEAVE
Vacation: 20 days (160 hours) per year with a maximum annual carry-over of 40 days (320 hours); Accrual of 6.16 hours will be granted on the last day of each pay period

Sick Leave: 12 days (96 hours) per year with unlimited annual carry-over;
12 days (96 hours) granted on start date; Beginning on the first anniversary, accrual of 3.70 hours will be granted on the last day of each pay period

Volunteer Leave: 1 day (8 hours) per year with no annual carry-over;
8 hours granted on start date, then annually granted at the start of the calendar year on January 1

Special Leave: Available by approval for bereavement, emergencies, and legal requirements

Parental Leave: 4 weeks for qualifying events, once per 12-month rolling period

Holidays: 12 designated paid holidays plus 3 paid floating days (24 hours);
Floating holidays granted on start date, then annually granted on the anniversary date. HCC is closed from Christmas Eve Day through New Year’s Day generally resulting in additional paid days.
