Description

We seek applicants to oversee all day-to-day cross country team operations with a strong emphasis in developing successful student athletes. The Head Cross Country Coach will recruit, develop, and administer men’s and women’s cross country program within the framework of Heartland Community College’s mission and values.

General responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Schedule, organize, and oversee all cross country events
  • Prepare annual budget requests and monitor budgets through the year
  • Actively recruit and maintain a roster of student athletes
  • Keep inventory and maintain cross country equipment
  • Remain current on NJCAA rules and regulations

Requirements

  • Associate degree
  • Demonstrated knowledge of recruiting and coaching an intercollegiate athletics program in accordance with Heartland Community College’s mission and values
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to problem-solve, work independently, and function professionally under pressure
  • Ability to work professionally with students, staff, and the public
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Collegiate or professional running experience
  • Knowledge of local running community, specifically high school programs
  • Experience scheduling events
  • Experience with budget development and oversight
  • Experience with fundraising
  • Experience with the recruitment and transfer process of college athletes
  • Experience in higher education generally, and at the community college specifically
  • CPR/AED certified

Anticipated pay is $13,500 annually.
