Position: Material Estimator

Report To: Full Time Position Supervisor Supply Chain Manager

The Material Estimator will review material needs for quote opportunities. This position is responsible for obtaining competitive price quotations for various projects and creating a complete

costed bill of materials, which will establish the standard material cost used in a formal price quotation.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Utilize quoting software to obtain and review vendor pricing information.

• Understand the project requirements

• Determine key variables of cost and other estimates as it relates to component information such as price, availability, lead time, life cycle status, excess material and minimum order quantities.

• Obtain and review quotes from suppliers

• Perform risk analysis

• Select winning bids and complete material estimates, thereby establishing standards

• Communicate issues and special condition of pricing

• Build working relationships with key suppliers

• Work with Engineering and Buyers to drive accuracy and competitiveness

Qualifications

• High school degree

• Good organization, communication skills

• Proficiency in Excel and math skill

• Attention to detail and multitasking
