Description
Job Summary:
The MRO Procurement & Materials Specialist is responsible for sourcing, purchasing, inventory control, and supplier management of Maintenance, Repair, and Operations (MRO). This role ensures critical spare parts, consumables, and services are available to support uninterrupted plant operations while maintaining food safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.
Qualifications
Key Responsibilities:
MRO Procurement

Source, negotiate, and procure MRO materials, spare parts, and services for plant operations and maintenance.

Develop and manage supplier relationships to ensure cost, quality, and delivery performance.

Identify cost-reduction and standardization opportunities without compromising safety or quality.

Manage contracts, pricing agreements, and vendor performance reviews.
Inventory & Materials Management

Maintain optimal inventory levels to support maintenance and production uptime.

Implement and manage min/max, reorder points, and cycle counting programs.

Organize and maintain MRO storeroom in accordance with GMP, food safety, and audit standards.

Track obsolete, slow-moving, and critical spare parts.
Compliance & Food Safety

Ensure all MRO materials meet food safety, GMP, HACCP, FSMA, and sanitation requirements.

Verify supplier compliance with food industry regulations and company standards.

Support internal and external audits related to materials, inventory, and supplier controls.
Systems & Reporting

Utilize CMMS, ERP, or inventory systems to process purchase orders, receipts, and inventory transactions.

Maintain accurate documentation, part descriptions, and BOMs.

Generate reports on spend, inventory turns, stockouts, and supplier performance.
Cross-Functional Collaboration

Partner with Maintenance, Engineering, Quality, and Operations teams to understand material needs.

Support maintenance planning and shutdown activities with timely material availability.

Act as a point of contact for MRO-related issues and continuous improvement initiatives.
Skills & Qualifications:

Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).

3+ years of experience in MRO procurement, materials management, or storeroom operations.

Experience in food manufacturing, beverage, or regulated manufacturing environment.

Strong knowledge of inventory management principles and procurement best practices.

Proficiency with ERP/CMMS systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Maximo, Infor, etc.).
