Description

As a Maintenance Technician at the Illinois Farm Bureau, you will have the opportunity to work both as a team and as an individual. You will get a chance to collaborate with a wide variety of talented people and teams in different professional areas. You will be involved in a wide range of projects from painting, drywall, and framing to low voltage work, AV equipment setup, and security hardware installation. You will also have the opportunity to use your creativity to perform special projects and designed builds. The Illinois Farm Bureau provides a friendly and safe environment to work in and offers many opportunities to grow and succeed.

This position is based out of our corporate office in Bloomington, IL five days per week.

How does a Building Maintenance Technician make an impact?

  • Performs basic plumbing, painting, electric, construction and other building maintenance work.
  • Performs general carpentry work. Constructs steel stud and drywall partitions and installs flooring. Erects movable partitions and installs and relocates modular furniture.
  • Installs and troubleshoots telecommunications and audio-visual equipment.
  • Performs special project work for tenants, such as finish carpentry.
  • Assists with snow removal as needed.

Qualifications

Do you have what we're looking for?

  • Basic computer proficiency, including ability to use Microsoft Office programs and ongoing ability to learn new/other equipment.
  • Aptitude to understand, create, and navigate digital work orders.
  • Skillful in framing, drywall, and painting.
  • Ability to read blueprints and instruction manuals.
  • Ability to adapt to changing technology.
  • Computer skills for access control and data.
  • General knowledge of audio/visual cabling connections.
  • Ability to run data cabling and wire management.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience with low voltage electrical.
  • Experience with basic plumbing and electrical.
  • This is an entry level support role, which does not require previous experience.
  • Telecommunications installers certification preferred.
  • Building Operator certification preferred.
  • Asbestos Operations and Maintenance Worker certification preferred.
  • Class D driver's license strongly preferred.
  • Frequent walking, bending and prolonged standing.
  • Good hand/eye coordination.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds regularly and 100 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to ascend/descend stairs and ladders, manual dexterity to use tools in construction and repair, and ability to operate machinery.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces.
  • Ability to wear a respirator.
  • Ability to work in hot or cold environments. May be exposed to seasonal extreme temperatures.
  • Works non-standard hours as needed and shares rotating on-call responsibilities in order to respond to emergency situations.
