Description

Illinois Farm Bureau (IFB), parent company of COUNTRY Financial, is looking for an Economic and Policy Analyst. You’ll contribute to the overall success of IFB through a analysis and interpretation of economic indicators relevant to the organization's misison. You will also provide economic analysis of regulatory and legislative proposals at the local, state, federal, and international level.

This position offers a hybrid work schedule and is based out of our corporate offices in Bloomington, IL.

How does an Economic and Policy Analyst make a difference?

  • Researches and analyzes existing and proposed government farm programs, regulations and policies, and structural conditions impacting Illinois farm businesses, including risk management.
  • Provides economic analysis, support and expertise to colleagues, IFB Board, task forces, committees, and organizations as directed through presentations, reports, articles, interviews or other requested material.
  • Analyzes international agricultural economics that affect U.S. food and agriculture trade development and farm income.
  • Monitors regulatory institutions (e.g., Federal Reserve) and analyzes financial trends with attention to the impact on the agricultural economy.
  • Develops close working relationships with government, business, financial, and academic researchers and institutions, as well as American Farm Bureau Federation (AFBF) staff, who work on economic and financial issues that impact agriculture. Monitors policy development institutions (e.g., Federal Reserve) and analyzes financial trends with attention to the impact on the agricultural economy.
  • Supports GAC-led conferences and meetings with input on economic topics and by orchestrating invitations to economic experts for speaking engagements.

Qualifications

  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills, including robust writing and presentation skills.
  • Ability to thoroughly research and analyze exisiting or proposed programs, policies, and regulations impacting Illinois farm businesses to support various teams, divisions, or committees throughout the organization efficiently.
  • Computer proficiency with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.
  • Ability to work flexible hours as needed.
  • Regular travel, including some air travel and overnight trips.
  • Typically requires 4 years of relevant experience or a combination of related experience, education and training.
