A Brief Overview

The Internal Communication Specialist facilitates and improves communication among employees, business units, and executive leadership to ensure that employees are familiar with the Bank's mission, goals, and developments. Works with the Internal Communication Team to advocate for employees across all levels of the organization and positively influence culture through effective storytelling. Demonstrates knowledge of department processes and procedures. Possess high-level knowledge of Bank business units and key contacts. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish objectives.

What you will do

  • Determines communication strategies and processes for communicating effectively throughout the organization.
  • Collaborates with internal stakeholders to understand priorities and new initiatives to identify opportunities to manage internal communication so employees are informed in a timely and appropriate manner.
  • Communicates organizational initiatives, developments, and stories to employees in a variety of print, digital, and interpersonal ways; tasks may include creating and publishing company newsletters, blogs and Intranet posts, videos, podcasts, and hosting meetings.
  • Serves as a resource throughout the organization for review of departmental communication.
  • Ensures that internal materials present a clear, unified, and positive image for the organization.
  • Partners with IT to ensure Heartland Bank’s Intranet provides a positive employee experience (up-to-date, easy to use, visually pleasing) and meets the changing needs of the organization.
  • Seeks new methods and strategies to improve internal communication.
  • Assist with the delivery of Orientation training for new Heartland Bank associates.

Other Qualifications/Requirements

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience using desktop publishing software such as Adobe Creative suite.
  • Bachelor’s Degree Communication, Journalism or related field and minimum 3 years Communication, Journalism, Publications, Marketing or related field preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
