Position Summary

We’re currently looking for a Tax Manager of Canadian Operations to join our team in Mississauga, Ontario.

This role will lead internal and external resources to ensure the timely and accurate completion of Canadian income and operating tax filings and tax payments properly reflecting the positions taken by the company while mitigating risks through appropriate documentation and disclosure. This individual will ensure the timely and accurate delivery of information in support of tax planning, audit, and accounting activities. They will develop and refine the strategy for Canadian tax operations including continuous improvement, relationship management, and the integration with other Tax COEs, Finance, and business processes.

*** This individual will need to be located near/in Mississauga, Ontario @ Bridgestone Canada. This will be a HYBRID schedule in the office Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday.***


Responsibilities

  • Develop annual resource plan and budget aligned with overall Tax Department priorities including co source partners.

  • Manage the preparation, filing and review of Canadian income and operating (indirect) tax returns consistent with resource plans and budget including managing all co source partners.

  • Monitor Canadian tax legislation/changes and provide advice on impact to the business, including making appropriate changes to tax systems and positions taken on tax returns.

  • Prepare/Review Canadian Tax account reconciliations and tax provision.

  • Develop and recommend plans to reduce risk (support Risk Assessment Matrix) and the overall tax burden, optimize cash flow, and reduce effective tax rate.

  • Manage all aspects of audits by outside Canadian tax authorities ensuring timely responses and mitigating assessments.

Minimum Qualifications

  • BA / BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or similar

  • 6+ years’ experience in a large multinational corporation or public accounting firm

  • 1 year of experience leading a team

  • CPA, CMI, CAE or international equivalent is REQUIRED

  • MST or MBA a plus
