Overview
Carle McLean County Orthopedics
Position Highlights:
- Number of Physicians or APP: 11 physicians (plus 1 psychologist, but our nursing staff does not assist Dr. Jepson); 8 APPs
- Patient population (age, diagnosis, specifics about Clinic): Typically, not newborns, but in general we see any age range
- Number of Patients seen at clinic per a day: Each provider’s clinic varies, but could be anywhere from 10-12 to 18-20 patients per ½ day clinic
- Department culture and resources: We have a team of primary nurses as well as float nurses who truly work together and support one another. We work closely with the providers – physicians and APPs, ortho techs – CMAs/ATCs, scribes, and admin staff – PSRs, authorization team, and therapy staff
- Frequent nursing skills/equipment used: Phone triage is essential; providing education regarding treatment plans/surgery/pain procedures may happen in person during clinic or on the phone when patients call back with questions; multi-tasking with returning phone calls/portal messages/helping during clinic/returning messages to PSR staff trying to schedule patients to name a few; being available to draw blood when needed for PRP injections; organizational skills and being able to prioritize is key – we have a very fast paced practice
