Position Summary

Summary:
The Core Grind Operator ensures center cores are ground to specific diameter and weight specifications. The operator ensures safe and proper operation of core grinding equipment.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintains safe, clean, and orderly workplace per 3S standards.
  • Identify and resolve minor mechanical and quality problems.
  • Responsible for performing regular quality checks as per SOP.
  • Makes operational changes to equipment periodically during 12-hour shift.
  • Performs diameter and weight checks on finished product twice/shift or after any adjustments.
  • Operates Coopermatic filtration systems by changing tanks every 1.5 hours on four units.
  • Loads product into hoppers for grinding and checks finished ground core inventory periodically through shift.
  • Performs compression checks
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to communicate effectively with other employees.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply commonsense with understanding to provide detailed written and/or oral instructions. Ability to be flexible with problem solving and reach resolutions appropriately.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Must be able to achieve the requirements with or without a reasonable request.

Work Environment

The work environment described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near heated equipment, moving mechanical parts and is regularly exposed to sharp objects, pinch points, and/or vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes and airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Steel/Composite toed shoes, heat resistant gloves, eye and ear protection is company provided (within reason) and always worn in this area. The indoor temperature is not a climate-controlled environment and can be seasonably hot or cold depending on the weather temperatures outside.

Minimum Qualifications

Typically requires a high school degree; or 1-2 year vocational training / associates degree
